I'm looking to attend HC this year with either one or two team members since it's so close. We'll be driving up - the problem is that I don't know where to stay since hotels require at least one person to be 21+ to sign. So I'm seeing if I have any friends in the area to stay with at night but other than that, any suggestions?

Have your parents call ahead?

They wouldn't be there physically to sign anything though. I think I'll just call up a few hotels seeing if a manager can make an exception. They can authorize how much ever they want on my credit card if that makes them more comfortable with it.

Thanks.

[edit] Actually, never mind. Found a friend's place to stay at. See you all there. :)

There is a hostel called the 500... it is cool and about $59 a night currently. Maybe you don't need to be 21 there.

I was a field tech in the area for a couple of years... if anyone else has questions. I am staying near the east end by the trolly... you can ride all day for $5. Also if you want to check the La Mesa/Lemon Grove area, there is 24 hour free parking, but a 45 min trolly ride to the convention center. I would check for a days inn or something like that and prearrange your check-in.

Maybe things are different out on the West Coast, but I do know hotels in New York permit you at 18, and Baltimore, 16.
