MikeMc 01-15-2003, 02:28 PM Hi, I think that the best one is this : http://search.mnogo.ru/ and it's free Regards Mike botcw 01-15-2003, 03:27 PM Take a look at http://www.gossamer-threads.com They have a program called LinksSQL and I believe there is a plugin available that does indexing. Dylan 01-15-2003, 06:39 PM Fluid Dynamics Search Engine (FDSE) (http://www.xav.com/scripts/search/) :D dsj 01-16-2003, 01:05 AM Can someone post a site that is currently using this search engine ( http://search.mnogo.ru/ ) so I can see how it works. dsj 01-16-2003, 01:11 AM "Fluid Dynamics Search Engine (FDSE)" Is there a larger version of this software that can handle 100,000 documents? (This one is limited to around 10,000 and I may cross that mark.) TheGAME1264 01-16-2003, 02:17 AM Are you talking about a site-wide search or a search across multiple engines? If it's site wid, there's a package called Innerprise (www.innerprise.net) that looks and feels a lot like Google's engine (and may well be infringing, so you may want to look into it) but it may help. dsj 01-16-2003, 05:06 AM That's exactly what I was looking for, except it only runs on windows servers! I need a unix version, which they don't seem to make. Netbridge 01-16-2003, 03:25 PM http://search.mnogo.ru Nice engine but a bit tricky in making it run. Consumes all the RAM that your machine has Fluid Dynamics Search Engine (FDSE) Push it over 10,000 documents and it will consume verything you have. For some odd reason it uses a flat file database which really drags. I index 100,000 documnts once and it takes about 18-20 seconds to retrieve a normal search. There are a few others but have not found one that gives you little trouble. Worste of all they can only crawl when you are logged on. You cannot let it auto-crawl. dsj 01-16-2003, 10:12 PM Thanks for the info. Thats the type of stuff I want to find out before installing one of these. How about the searcgh engine of Thunderstone.com? Any info on that? They have a free version that handles up to 10,000 documents or something. A little too small, but maybe the paid version is worth it. I think the thunderstone.com search engine is identical to master.com. |
