Hey guys, This is my experience with siteturn.com

I signed up for their basic plan with was 14.99 paid annually.

after 2 months, they charge me 30 dollars because I have over 5000 files.

They give everyone 500 megs of space but limit you to 5000 files. how could you fill up 500 megs with just html and image? yeah you could if you can have unlimited amount of files, but with only 5000 files, could you really do that?

anyway, I got pissed off so I sent them a notice to cancel my account and guess what? they never answer my email. I contact them thru chat and they told me that billing department is not here.

Guys, I have paid 300 and I've used their service for only 3 months, they did not give me money back!

stay away from them!

you might want to check out their terms/acceptable users policy....make sure youve followed any cancellation
terms they may pose?
If youve done that, and paid for a years service...and they impose a charge 0f 30.00 after 2 months, and you are attempting to cancel with no luck....I would definitely contact my credit card co/bank
and explain that you didnt receive services, and ask them to do what is called a "chargeback"
you should be able to get credit issued back.
Good luck

...or you could do your research as to why you were charged the overage before tearing a company apart and then apologizing 5 or 6 responses later. All to often someone such as yourself that doesn't know what you're doing and of course believes that you are in the right, posts threads such as this complaining about TOS or billing policies, that you agreed to when you signed up, but of course never read, and then complains when you don't get treated the way you perceived.
1. Do your homework before you committ to paying money for anything.
2. Pay real money for your site, $15 a month, what did you expect???? You get what you pay for.

I don't understand why some are offended by kevinfx's post. I tried their site and cannot find the link to thier terms. Its really funny if they send terms after placing an order. :D

I clicked the live chat and found that it will ask for your name, email and message and once you submit information requested, its gone (may be wait for their response via email later) In fact this message is sent to sale@siteturn.com and this is what they call live chat. :stickout

And FYI WaffenSS, they do have 30 days money back guarantee, but what to do with it. We are talking the issue which is after 60 days (2 months)

I think the best way to make these poeple to respond you is send them an email with your intention to put a chargeback. If not responded, you should go to your bank.

There are many companies here which is spoiling the whole hosting industry.

Hey kevinfx be careful next time whenever you sign with any one make sure you read the terms and conditions properly and have a hardcopy of it. Just a friendly advise.

Atleast kevinfx desrve a reponse for his email. Atleast siteturn can reply back and explain what the procedure is to cancel the account, where the hell their terms are mentioned (somewhere in a hard format on thier desk, I guess). It's not "you get what you pay for". There are many other web hosting companies charging less then $15 a month with great support and prompt response. It depends upon company to company.

after 2 months, they charge me 30 dollars because I have over 5000 files.

Check here, the link is at the bottom of their front page titled LEGAL (http://www.siteturn.com/legal/aup.htm) Yes, it's in small print and doesn't appear to be a link at first glance, but it is a link.

Look under Server Resource, and you'll find that you're getting charged what you were because....

All shared web hosting accounts come with an initial minimal file allowance of 5000 files per domain. Each block of 5000 files after the initial 5000 will be charged at $9.95/month rate.

they charge me for using over 5000 files, that's fine. ( i was wonering if any other company limit you on # of files u can have ). weird!!!
but when I email them to cancel my account, they never response? I deserve a response. Why can't they just tell me what's going on?

And Mr JKLIVIN, 15 bucks is still real money! do you mean that whoever pay 15 or less should get crappy service?

While I agree that $15 IS real money, your expectations should be put into perspective. No host can offer a webhosting account for $15/year and offer decent service. It's just not economically feasible, nor is it very good business planning for the long term.

Another thing to remember is that there will almost always be some sort of catch for these types of offers. ALWAYS read (and understand) the TOS before signing up for an account.

If I had a client that was paying me $1.25/month, I can guarantee you this client would not be high on my list of priorities. The fact is that my time is worth more than pennies per hour.

I think the industry has to smarten up and hosts have to realize that making such offers do not help their business, nor does it throw a good light over the industry.

Bottom line is that cut throat pricing is hurting everyone in this business. The client, the host, and the industry.

I am with Siteturn. Here are some facts about them.
1) You will never get response from them if you send them email. Even when you sign up with them and get charged, there is no confirmation email!
2) They do charge extra money if files are bigger than 5000
3) Connectivity is not good.

I would suggest staying away with them.

According to their TOS/AUP/hidden here are the real terms link, you can't put files outside your WWW dir!

What's up with that? I have all my content (beyond the actual call scripts) outside of my WWW dir. I would like to think they're a little safer there.

Anything outside of the www dir is subject to summary deletion... yeesh...
