I moved this from the TCP/IP.... section. Moderator please delete that one.
I need a basic client tool that will allow me to monitor web sites and servers and page or e-mail me when the server or web site goes down. If anyone knows of a good one I can use please let me know. It will be a plus is it also allows me to tweak the settings per site. A basic ping for the server will be fine but the web site should return a page and not just pings because just because a server returns a request doesn't mean that the site is up.
I appreciate all your help.

I'd go with netsaint.. http://netsaint.sourceforge.net/
it'll monitor everything for you ..httpd, pop3, smtp, etc..
If you're looking for an NMS to monitor through SNMP .. you can either use OpenNMS or CNMS made by Compaq. Both softwares are free.

Try again, it works. I've already downloaded the file. If it doesn't work let me know.

If anyone cares to answer this for the rest of the board, then that's fine, though note this user has been banned (thus will not be able to view the board or reply to the posts).

Check out Big Brother (http://www.bb4.com/). It can monitor just about anything you want on the server or servers. Everything is reported to a single console.

I used BB a long time ago. However, I've heard it has a lot of security issues now. Anyone else heard about this?
