View Full Version : How 250,000 banner loads got me not even $12
KalEl 05-06-2001, 02:51 PM What world are we living in? Did I do something horribly wrong to deserve this?
My site averages 250,000 impressions and last month Everyone.net totalled $11.69 for me.
There has to be something better out there.
At even $1 CPM, I should be waiting for a $250 check in the mail next week.
But getting paid? Sounds impossible these days.
Webmasters are in such a horrible situation I think I want to CRY !
This forum is the only suitable corner I've found where I can share and expect some form of help.
What out there is going to bring in the MONEY ?
Tell me... PLEASE ! Are PopUps the answer ?
I put some from popuptraffic on my page and it only 400 unique loads? Meanwhile my counter counted 2700 unique visits. PopUpTrafficseems like the only way I'm going to make the money that I have lost from hosting and paying for a domain. And Exit Fuel pays some serious money but it is SO ANNOYING!
I know the popup isnt going to load every single time when it SHOULD, but at least HALF the time would be nice. (This is using the once-every-unique-every-12hr cookie...)
Please help before I lose my mind!
A fellow webmaster in distress,
~Jerry G.

Alan - Vox 05-06-2001, 03:07 PM i had the same problem, its nearly impossible to make money now, thats why we had to close madhosts.com even though we were doing 250,000 visitors a day.
eva2000 05-06-2001, 03:38 PM 250k visitors /day
try cj.com and some merchants with high ctr % banners are performing well
(SH)Saeed 05-06-2001, 03:47 PM Banner advertising is dead. I remember old days when banner companies such as flycast and burstmedia were paying $3-$7/CPM. But those days are over. Only way you can make money nowdays is if you actually sell something.
DHWWnet 05-06-2001, 03:47 PM somebody told me about ...
http://www.adultrevenueservice.com
She told me that they pay $75 per signup/referral and i think signing up is free too and .8 per click thru.
http://freakymami.com/frame.html go to her site's link , i guess... :D
*never used it and never will :D
Walter 05-06-2001, 03:56 PM Banners are dead? Don't think so. I just believe the days of easy money are gone...
Mark Vockler 05-06-2001, 04:20 PM If you were to package your information into a digital downloadable product like an ebook for instance, you'd probably be able to realize greater profits.
Price the ebook at just $19.95, and if you sell just one copy in an entire month, you'd have already made more than what Everyone.net is paying you now.

KalEl 05-06-2001, 04:42 PM Too bad I got into the market exactly when the "days of easy money" are over.
Thank you all for the suggestions..
Right now I have looked at CommissionJunction, but do ANY of the merchants pay per CPM?
I have realized that clicks/leads/sales are almost meaningless when your hits come from computer-savvy people.
 Bring back the CPM model we all LOVE !

ebird 05-06-2001, 06:10 PM KalEL,
Go for some exit popup banner providers. Usually they privide $2 or higher cpm.
Let's say, average page view is 5. then you got 50,000 exits. That's roughly $100 per month.
I know at goclick.com provides something like this.
Please don't use any service from internetfuel (hope it's the correct name), since it's exit console will scare your visitors away.
good luck.

Ohh boy.. I signed up for Exit Fuel and am using it already, we'll see how well it works. GoClick ? How much do they pay?
ExitFuel pays $5 CPM, and on the first day it loaded sucessfully 1425 times, yet the payout for the day is still $5, not adjusted.
I'll go look into GoClick right now, any other high paying Exit Popups?
Thank you incredibly!
Aloha,
I recently worked for a online co that was getting about 2.5 million page views a month.
( I brought them form 1 mill to 2.5 mil in one year they had been around for 5 years before me)
we generated about $6,000 from advertising on it.
we had direct advertisers with companies of whom our members related to (aviation industry)
we also used a company b2b
http://www.b2bworks.com/
ask for April tell her the old webmaster for aeps on Maui sent ya ;)=
they will require at least a million a month though
I am in the proccess of building a aviation site and will hope to be using them soon
there check was always about 3 months late but at least it was alwyas late on time ;)=
KalEl 05-06-2001, 07:06 PM That sounds like a great opportunity, but my site is only medium sized, not huge.
I just took a look at GoClick.
They pay per unique popup per 48 hours. :smash:
But.. if their popup ALWAYS loads, that'll still be more money than PopUpTraffic which pays $3 per unique per 12hours.
We'll see.
Oh, and when I refer to these popups, I mean with code implementing a cookie to only actually popup if they are a unique visitor in the past XX hours. That's not automatic with PopupTraffic, but I've made it like that. Wish I could do it with Exit Fuel.
Any further ideas? I'm in PopUp WORLD here ! Just trying to get back what I've invested.

Aloha,
for some of you that our looking for smaller sites
look at sponsor pages
who is your target market ?
what service would they want to see/or buy
then find a company that would like to sponsor your site
if you have enough page views maybe 5 sponsors
each gets pages related to them and they get rotated on the front.
this depends on your viewing market
have people sign-up on your site get some marketing material
age
income
married
where do you live (US or country)
do you buy online
blah blah
now to get them to sign-up your sponsors will offer things such as signup get free shipping or sign up buy $100 and we give you a free widget.
now you can tell your advertisers here is our demographics
you need this info anymore
no more blind advertising
I helped with a site has potential and has a wealthy demographic site only gets 2500 pageviews a month but sponsors will pay $ 100 a month
5 sponsors
as it builds get more advertisers
hope this helps

In the good old days when the banners actually were worth something everyone cheated to make even more money. The advetisers accepted all kinds of small no good websites to put their banners on them. And now, we're all paying the price for those days. :bawling:
not worth to use exitfuel. I got 100k vistors, it only count 900 hits. and has numberous popups.
UNIXIELHOST 05-07-2001, 01:22 AM I used had everyone.net for my personal site and had more than million hits a month and I check the money I earned was only like $10 dollars and I was upset. I was suppose be owed about $800.
Everyone.net is really full of lies and they push too much ads more than I ever seen.
Nowdays all the Adversiting drain you down and they lie to you and you were expected to pay the rate they provided to you. I do NOT see $7/CPM anymore, most likely $1/CPM or even less.
I use sponsorships.net for now, better than nothing and I earn some bucks as well. Nothing personal, really.
Hope this helps.
Gatta 05-07-2001, 01:56 AM You have GOT to be kidding me. I recently had to install a local proxy to filter out certain types of requests because of all the lamers putting popups (sometimes more than one per page!) on their sites! Do all of us web-surfers a favor and get rid of popups!
xwebdesigner 05-07-2001, 02:00 AM just disable java then all your pop up problems are solved

Took the words out of my mouth :) .
Gatta, I don't think you fully realize why it is necessary.
