hi,
my hosting provider is in the process of changing servers and in doing so, they did something that mucked up the dns for my sites which are hosted on a different server than the ones they are posting to.
is there anything that i can do to fix this or do i just have to sit and wait it out?

If the DNS Server names are going to remain the same but just a changed in the IP Address or if there is no change in the DNS Server and their IP address but just your site IP Address which change then just sit back and wait for the change.

yea...if waiting were only that simple. my client's and my sites have been down for going on 24 hours and i was specifically told friday not to worry about it.
well..i'm sorry but my clients rake in a lot of jack and won't bat an eyelast at tossing me overboard...so yea...i am worrying about it.

I know what you mean but there is nothing really much that you can do.
Did they change the DNS Server Name ? if so, you might need to change that on your domain name registrator to reflect that.
