Hi,

I am looking for a ad serving software to serve my own ads. I am a newbie and just want your recommendation.

Yes i know about Google DFP but i want something non google or something opensource or for linux servers.

I want something kind of automatic like advertisers add the banner images or test ads and pay and ads are automatically served or can be set to draft until set to live.

What recommendation do you have?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

OpenX (local install, not hosted service)

Openx is good

But i have started to use OrbitsScripts free version http://orbitscripts.com/orbit-free-php-open-source-ad-server-for-publisher.html

OpenX uses way to much resources.
I used the OrbitScript opensource on the same server with same traff and load is is 1-3 with 10mill impressions per day. :)

Its pretty new script and still have some snags, but for me it works better than openx.

I've only slightly worked with Google DFP, and absolutely love it.

Can I ask why you want something 'non-google.' DFP fully allows you to sell your own ads.

i was trying to install the openadserver and keep on getting the error /guest/home or /admin/login not found etc..

anybody know there is a manual for install or steps

usually works out of the box except a few installer bugs.. but nothing critical.

My guess you have problems with the .htaccess file, since it redirects to those locations for you.

Can also add that Google DFP is perfect.

OpenX (formerly phpMyAds or similar name - forgot) seems to be the best free option available although it seems a little clunky and confusing for a novice to use.
