I've been reading this forum for a while, and saw a certain offer (it wasn't hosting or webdesign) and I wanted discuss. I thought that I might aswell post my experience with PHPWebHosting.com.

It has been GREAT. They don't resell, have a middle man, nothing (at least to my knowledge)--and they actually have a physical address, something I couldn't find on most hosts. I belive they also have their own datacenter, but I'm not 100% sure (more like 95%, I need to make sure. If they don't, they're doing a pretty good damn job at not showing it!)

They're so dedicated to their company, it seems, that they even wrote their own control panel--which quite frankly, I feel is much better than both Ensim and CPanel. It's not graphical, pretty, or any of that. It's made up of simple tables, yet is extremly powerful. And it's not dependent on companies such as Ensim to make RPMs for new versions of software--meaning I get to enjoy up-to-date software. I used to work for a webhost, and frankly, I hated both Ensim and CPanel. Yet I don't hate the PHPwebhosting one (they call it "cx panel").

Their customer service and service, in general, is superb. They didn't EVER want an extra penny (well, except for when I wanted extra FTP accounts, but the fee was next to nothing), they reply to all my requests quickly, have nearly no down time, don't demand money if I go over a certain amount of bandwith/space/email accounts/SQL databases (they pratice what they call "unmetered resources"). In fact, they don't even advertise. Their business is advertised by simple word-of-mouth by hapy coustmers (one of them being me, I guess :D)

Their tech suport is friendly, and even helped me with things that didn't have to do with hosting.

Also, I get a full-fledged shell account. Not the "crippled" kind Ensim automaticlly makes. I guess I could use the kind Ensim creates, but I like being able to wander into /bin and see what's available. That's not a real plus for most people, but I just enjoy that (I'm just weird, I guess. Heh.). I also have access to things like the httpd.conf and php.ini, so I can see what's set to what. I feel like I'm in a "community" with PHPWebHosting.com. I don't with most other hosts.

And in case you're wondering, no, you can't see other people's home folders. As much as I would've liked it being the other way around :).

Oh, and, I know this will sound weird, another reason I really liked PHPWebHosting and immediatly coughed up my $9.95 after reading the technical specifications, is because they have a webdesign that doesn't look like most other hosts (you know what I mean, those $50 templates from websites like www.***************.com).

And one last thing: when you register and have access to the control panel, you get access to a GIANT knowledge base that has answers for A LOT of things.

Was definetly worth my $9.95 a month!

P.S
I know this sounded like an advertisment, but it's not. I'm just so damn satisfied with'em. And, this _is_ the webhosting forum...

If you're wondering what that cencored site is, it's <blocked for a reason> . And anyone using them should get shot :P.

I know they're much nicer, but, they all seem the same--and when you see a bunch of hosts having a very siilar design, you start being a bit, I don't know, suspicious. And no, this isn't spam.

Wow, I didn't realize they had such a bad reputation =\

I have only been with them for about 4 to 5 months now, and I haven't noticed anything bad (there were a few down times, but not too many. . .)

Maybe it's time to get a new host, I guess.

Yeah, I started looking for a new host. I thought those few outages were just a one-time deal...

PHPWebHosting.com were lucky to have such a pleasant customer. You won't have any problems finding a new host, just do a little research :)

If you don't mind me asking, what did you used to do when you worked for a web host?
