Okay,

After several months of debate and VDI's inability to live up to their promise to me of a FreeBSD version of cpanel, I'm pretty stuck with PLESK.

However, I need to know from a clients/resellers perspective if this will meet the needs of a hosting company with a large user base in mind.. Will it?

-or-

Should we just get another server and goto RH? This is really a very very last alternative b/c RH blows goats..

I can't decide.. Please help. PLESK seems a lot cheaper and more efficient price wise as compared to cpanel.. What about SmartHosting Tools?

Thanks..

If you are on a budget then plesk is a good alternative.
On the other hand cpanel is better over plesk if you plan on using it for end users and resellers. The user interface on cpanel is intuitive.. imo.

We used Plesk for months and never once had to restart the server. Granted it's missing a few features but they do upgrade and from what we have been told the next release should be very good.

The other thing is that our customers rave about it. They tell me its very easy to use from their standpoint.

We don't think of Plesk being 2nd fiddle. Their support guys are great.

My 2 cents.

Although I have not yet started to use the Smart Hosting Tools Controller, I think it is a great product from what I see inside the demo compared to Plesk and CPanel. I suggest you check it out.

Anyone know a good reseller to buy Plesk for less than the crappy $550 per liscence. I would love to pay around $300-$400 for one.
