I was wondering if anyone ever gets any "Bad Packet Length" followed by disconnect errors in SSH? I get them a LOT - I have the most updated version off SSH client. Anyone know what causes them?
Thanks,
Ben

Doesn't seem to be enough information to go on. I know I have no idea what the msg. means because I've never seen. What are you doing when the msg. comes up?
A guess would be connection problems, but without knowing more, it's hard to give a good answer.

Also, now in the file SSH application, i'm getting THIS error:
Server responded "Currupted MAC on input."
A protocol error was detected. This usuall indicates a bug in the SSH application (either client or server).
I can't imagine no one else has had this error before, but I have no clue what it could mean. Considering they give absolutely no information, it could be anything from a bad network card to a bug in the server - diganosing things - this is what I hate most about computers... Could be so many things.

I've just isolated the problem to my workstation I believe as it doesn't seem to be happening on my laptop... Any ideas what the problem could be? Right now I'm thinking bad network card, but if it was bad, you would think I would run into other problems outside SSH.
Any response is most appreciated.
Thanks,

google ssh bad packet length - over 8K hits

99% of those 8k hits don't relate to my problem. Trust me - I do google things before I come here. Any more ideas? I'm ready to buy a new network card but I don't really feel like spending the money if I don't have to.
Thanks,
Ben

If you use the same SSH program on your Workstation as you do your Laptop (and no problems with the Laptop) then it would seem a hardware problem with the Workstation.
To know for sure, using another SSH program -- on both systems for control purposes -- would tell the story.

WOW - this was a strange one - finally got it solved!
After a lot of diagnosing, I realized that when my workstation was set as the DMZ host in my linksys router, I would get the bad packet length errors a lot. When I set it to .0, all errors would be gone. I isolated it to my router because I did NOT get errors when connecting to my laptop on the same network.
No clue whatsoever DMZ host, which is supposed to affect INCOMING connections has to do with the SSH Packet Length errors, but I really don't care - just so long its fixed. Hopefully I can help others that may have this problem when it comes up.
