View Full Version : Help finding a doc storage/backup provider

Hi all,

I'm looking for a hosting provider that acts similarly to Google Docs - upload docs, have them available online (not necessarily edit them online though). I had used Rackspace Cloud Drive but their sync program kept messing up my documents. I was getting duplicates, triplicates, and their "fanatical" support wasn't any help.

Being able to sync docs from multiple computers/users up to the host is very important. One large issue is that some of the computers are macs. I was considering using sharepoint - but it doesn't look too Mac friendly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Dropbox.com is what you need.

Dropbox.com is what you need.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for something where I have a bit more control, specifically I'm needing a solution with higher end security, but not quite HIPAA - level compliance.

Checkout box.net, they might be the right solution for you

The very easiest thing would be a closed user group at scribd.
They have basic revisioning support, but not sure if it will do for you.

(In theory every apache+webdav+svn setup could support your needs, as webdav knows how to handle document revisions - but i assume you need something working)

Thanks for the replies. Box.net looks pretty good. Also found filesanywhere.com - anyone hear of them? Any feedback?

Hi dwagman,

I work for FilesAnywhere.com and would be glad to set you up with a WebAdvanced account completely free. We also provide a great sync/backup utility called CoolBackup, which will be included with your new account.

My office phone is 469-499-0755. I'm out of the office for the weekend, but you can either call and leave a voice mail for me to get back with you, or you can call Monday.

I'm looking forward to helping you out!
