View Full Version : Under $10 a month - Now, The Options...
timbo 05-05-2001, 04:17 AM Hi everyone,
I currently have hosting plans with http://www.Linuxwebhost.com , http://www.addr.com , http://www.phpwebhosting.com , http://www.hostsave.com , http://www.liquidweb.com
Most of the plans I go for are under the $10 a month mark, and most of the them have Mysql/ PHP4 around 3-4 gig monthly traffic. (Liquidweb is used for my huge audio site -- and despite some downtime they are FAR better the the AWFUL ***** I was with!)
Thing is, I want to consolidate all of these into one hosting company
Can anyone recommend the BEST host for support and Mysql/PHP4/Telnet etc for under $10 ?
(I was thinking about a dedicated server from version12.net -- but their offers are offline for the moment......)
Thanks guys/girls.
Tim
:D
RotoHost 05-05-2001, 05:04 AM How many separate plans do you have? One at each company?
timbo 05-05-2001, 05:05 AM Yep, one at each company...... I like to try new things ;)
Angel78 05-05-2001, 05:55 AM tera-byte.com offers such stuff im with their 9,99$ plan 99mb 20 gb transfer and few other things
ebird 05-05-2001, 12:38 PM Oh timbo,
I just don't understand why you choose those companies. Among the five you mentioned, I heard angry comments for at least 4 of them.
http://www.Linuxwebhost.com
http://www.addr.com
http://www.phpwebhosting.com , http://www.liquidweb.com
Move out to some highly recommended hosts here.
good luck.

timbo 05-05-2001, 12:44 PM Heh, I have bad luck when choosing them ;) But to be honest --- addr.com has been rock solid for me with only one minor downtime (3-4 hours)
Liquidweb has been rocky over the past weeks, but are now full steam ahead - just like it was when I joined last year.
Hostsave are amazing for $6.95 a month - had a few hours of downtime but still, I don't use support much with these....
Phpwebhosting/linuxwebhost are good so far.....
Well, I just signed up for http://www.hostmatters.com - so we shall see!
:)
(me thinks it's time for a dedicated server!)
Tim

If you want, I can give you angry comments on the fifth one to complete the list for you. LOLOLOL Hostsave.com = horrilbe support
CreedFeed 05-05-2001, 02:32 PM Right now I'm on a $7 plan with BlastHosting - http://www.blasthosting.com So far I've been fairly pleased. Quick response time for any questions/concerns I have had. I'd strongly recommend them.
timbo 05-05-2001, 02:34 PM WOWSERS!
Great prices!!! Thanks for that...... :)
nisus 05-05-2001, 04:26 PM Weinbar has a nice $7.95 plan with 50mb and 6 gigs transfer. I haven't used them myself, but i've heard good things.

TupacSource.com 05-05-2001, 06:44 PM i'm hosted with http://aletiahosting.com and they have everything, and still have the best service. they even helped me with my site when i had problems.
timbo 05-05-2001, 08:56 PM Again, a fantastic price and great amount of features. I will be moving to this baby too!
So doesn't this prove a point - I was stupid enough to believe those other so-called-hostreview Web sites that are basically just advertisements for poor companies.... when there are LOTS of excellent small hosting companies around!
timbo 05-11-2001, 10:26 PM Just a quick update on this....
I cancelled all of my addr.com accounts (yippeee!) and moved 3 sites over to http://www.aletiahosting.com due to their excellent prices (and rather sexy Web design too!)
Funny thing is, when I came to cancel my addr.com accounts I was offered 3 months free hosting with them....but as I replied "thanks, but not thanks" to their support E-mail address I got a mail bounce back!:

Dogma 05-12-2001, 12:45 AM Please tell me how your aletia account does. I am looking @ them and at HostRocket. I have heard good things about HostRocket, but nothing really about Aletia, so Timbo, please share your experiance w/ me :)

would either of these hosts be suitable for hosting a business web site? we are a VERY SMALL industrial air pollution control equipment supplier and designer and do not want to appear small or unprofessional (20year old business).
thanks,
doris

TheOp 05-14-2001, 12:01 PM I use stargateinc.com
6.95/per month 50MB, 1GB transfer (could be more) and I got a free domain (made up for the transfer). :)
kieferfloors 05-14-2001, 12:33 PM I know of 2 great companies that resell. One of which did my web design work for my site. orbitauctions.com offers great selling rates. Their lowest hosting package i belive is like 10 dollars and he gives his resellers for like 7 dollars and that package is like 150 mb and everything you wanted. Just a thought. Oh and the other one would be ***** you can even rent a dedicated server from them for like 100 bucks. They have crappy reselling support but orbitauctions.com gives you a 800 number i read i think. you have nothing to lose then to keep on looking. Good Luck on your Quest!

Yes they would. I have been looking into both and I don't know which one (HostRocket or Aletia) but both would do what you need. I would try sending an email with a few questions to both of them on a weekend to see which one replies faster or with the most help. This could help you decide. One more thing, from what I know, HostRocket has been along for longer...if that factors into your decision making process.
Please tell us what you end up doing!!
