I'm quite bad with organisation when it comes to my favourites folder, I have to clean it out bi-annually, right now it has around 40 websites, at one time I had about 300 websites...ouch, took a while to get to the newer sites I added to the list!

So id like to know if I'm the only one who adds sites to his favourites list like crazy :D

Ill say I have about 100 - 150 websites in my favorites. Funny thing is, once I put them in my favorites I hardly ever visit them again

I got thousands and thousands of them......some are classified into specific folders...like hosting, programs, tools etc......others are in general folders [like tech, science, govt....etc etc]

i find it useful to recall websites by making a search of the fav folders.......thats the easy way to find anything

About 30 main folders with another 30-40 subfolders. I'd estimate about 1000 bookmarks. I go through them about once a year and throw out the inactive ones.
Many are research for activities like marketing, freelancing, prospects, networking, resources for websites, etc.
At the top are about 10 I visit every day.
I use AOL as my main surfing tool and their favorites list is much easier to organize and keep organized that IE.
It's gotten wiped out a couple of times when the cat jumped up on the keyboard and hit the delete key with her paw when I was using the list.
Now I back it up once a week.

I think you've encountered the case of 'clever cat'.

Your cat, you say, has done this serveral times, so it knows exactly where that del key is, and is now taking every chance to hit del while you're browsing your favourites folder! I'd say you should watch when you leave the room, that cat may be taking your place at the computer and looking at your files

edit: ok I just realised that your username is madmouser...lol :D

edit2: ok I just realised that my previous edit might make it look i'm laughing at your username, but I'm just laughing at the irony, you have this clever cat and you're called mad mouser :D

edit3: Maybe cats are going to take over the world? Your cat is certainly about to wipe your harddrive clean :p

Geez, I wish you didn't ask. It just took me the better part of 10 minutes adding them up (lost count twice and had to start over  )

I've got 1440 bookmarks.

Umm, just curious, how do you back them up?

I have the most organised favourites folder in the universe
all neat, shiny clean, a pleasure to behold, with 31 sub folders and subfolders inside the subfolders, approx 700 sites in toto

I wish I could organise the rest of my life like that

Lost counts. Yes, sub-folders under sub-folders. Must have at least several hundreds. But then I put the dozen that I visit daily on a toolbar.

I easily have over 500 bookmarks. The strange thing, however, is that once I do bookmark a page, I very rarely, if ever, go back there again...

I have about 8-10 that I do visit regularly located on a toolbsr though.

With AOL it's easy. At the bottom of the Favorites list just click on save/replace and it saves the list a file on the hard drive. After the cat wipes them out, I can click on save/replace and restore the last set I saved.
Haven't a clue how to do it with IE. I use IE a lot, too, and have a lot of bookmarks in that now, and was trying to organize them into folders and gave up.

A couple of years ago, when I foolishly bought one of those "internet" keyboards -- the ones where you can connect to the internet by pushing buttons across the top -- one of the other cats managed to log onto AOL and get into newsgroups. Don't know if he managed to post.

The deleting cat is a small cat. I have problems with RSI and use a track ball positioned front of my keyboard. She's in the habit of coming up and lying in front of the keyboard and on top of my arm that's on the trackball when I'm doing my morning web browsing. This puts her back paw near the delete key on the keypad on the side. If she shifts position things get wiped out. I've managed to foil her by leaving the number lock on. But I keep forgetting about it and end up with periods all over things I was trying to delete.

Both cats manage to hit the keyboard a lot on their way to the top of the monitor, a prime snoozing spot. The keyboard is used as a launching pad since I have been so inconsiderate as to put printers and things on the desktop, turning it into a kitty obstacle course. The keyboard to monitor top is the most direct route.

MadMouser Graphics got its name from one of my cats.

I don't have a favourites folder but i have a favorites folder ;)

And I only have about 5 sites in it. My other machines don't have any sites in them. I guess I don't have enough time to visit a ton of sites, I have a few I visit frequently and I usually just type in the URL

I just have One in my favourites list.

WHT.

however I don't even need that as I have WHT as my homepage, and I never close my browser.

WHT RULES

That may explain some of the srange post we get here.

for IE, if you have windows, you can go to ummmmmmm the windows folder on your PC and there should be a favorites folder, or you could search your HD for the favorites folder, just backup this folder, it has all the shortcuts inside :)

Around 30 pages, but tons more in subfolders. I'd say around... 200 bookmarks - not that I use them after I bookmark them, strange enough :D
