I'm looking for a managed windows hosting package with the following requirements:

1. Windows 2008 Server
2. 2GB Memory
3. At least 30GB Disk
4. ASP.NET 3.5 / AJAX
5. Highest uptime
6. High level of tech support
7. Daily backups
8. Hundreds of visitors a day (potentially more)
9. Most visitors from US & UK
10. Budget - Not a limit

Do you think I need a VPS or dedicated hosting ?
Please recommend professional companies only.

Thanks !!

I'll recommend you to start with a VPS and thereafter move to a dedicated server once your requirements grow. Do you also need a control panel for managing hosting accounts?

I have one of these: http://eurovps.com/eng/vps/managed_windows_vps/

And it works beautifully. I've been with EuroVPS for almost 5 years now. Easily one of the best Windows VPS or dedicated hosts out there. Uptime is near 100%, thousands of visitors, quick site loads. I wouldn't be with them if it didn't work well. The hardware is very nice.

That's what I'd do.

I think you'll be fine on a VPS for now.

I have checked EuroVPS and they look pretty serious BUT in the last few days their live chat is unavailable and there are problems with their sign up page. Are they still alive ? Are they experiencing any difficulties lately ?

Any other recommendations would be highly appreciable :)

Try looking for a CloudServer. You can get the benefit of redundant hardware, and some hosts offer backups and management included. You can also install WebSitePanel for free to manage the server as well, or ask the host to do it.

They've been around for at least 6-7 years now, and they're most definitely in business. They host some pretty large sites in Europe, and they won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Live chat is not really a primary communication for higher-end hosting businesses, which is what EuroVPS is (they're a premium host, not a budget host). Live chat tends to be something you only get on the low-rent budget operations. Corporate execs, IT directors, etc -- they don't have time to screw around with live chat, they'll submit tickets and move on to their next task. EuroVPS does have it, but it's mostly for sales that I've seen, and would therefore only be operational during sales hours. Don't quote me on that, however -- I could be wrong (but I don't think I am).

If you have a pre-sales question, this is the helpdesk: https://helpdesk.eurovps.com/
It's the same place that's used for support tickets.
You'll likely get a pretty quick response.

This is their sign-up page: https://manage.eurovps.com/hspc/index.php
It's running on Parallels HSPC.
Looks fine to me. I've never seen it down.

I've been with them since 2006, and host my most important sites there.

Hope that helps. :D

Hello,

IMHO you should start with dedicated Windows server. To find a hosting company you could check also in the Find A Host section - http://www.webhostingtalk.com/web-hosting-providers

If you've been with EuroVPS for 5 years, the hardware must be very old now unless your VPS is moved from time to time to new server.

Indeed, I've either been migrated or upgraded myself about once per year.
Their hardware is always up to speed.

Same for the software versions, both OS and control panels. :agree:

I have at least 5 hosts at any time, for various reasons. The best hardware is always at EuroVPS.
And that's why all of my most important sites are hosted there.
It's high-end rack mounted server grade hardware. Sadly, many hosts cut corners here. EuroVPS does not.

How do you compare hardward quality with other hosts?
I don't think any host would run a desktop grade server for VPS hosting especially when the server requires powerful configuration with at least Dual CPUs & 24 GB RAM or more.

I look at hardware specs when logged in. (Plesk and Virtuozzo show it, as do other panels.)
I ask questions.
I read their documentation.
Easy enough.

I think you'd be surprised how many hosts cut corners with cheap or outdated crap servers.
And I don't just mean CPU and RAM, but hard drives and other hardware.

After reading all your comments and doing some research, I have narrowed down to the following providers:

VPSWebServer
WebAir
UltimaHost
SoftSys
**************

I'd be happy to receive any comments, experiences and reviews you might have about them.

Thnx !!

You know, not so long time ago I didn't have enough money to pay for my VPS, so I decided to switch from VPS to shared hosting.. After hard days of my research I decided to choose m6.net - now everything works like a clock. It is specialized windows hosting provider and it seems to me that it will be reasonable info for you.

I can't comment with personal experience on m6.net, but I have heard nothing but really good things about their services.
