I honestly don't know if I'm in the right section, so feel free to move my subject to were it really belongs.

My question is : You have the choice between two servers (physical machines), which one would you buy? (I already have my opinion, but maybe I'm wrong.) Keep in mind that you want to upgrade both to 1GB of ram, maybe more, and add more storage.
First : IBM NetFinity 4000R
Dual PIII 500MHz
256MB RAM
9.1GB HD
For $650.00

Second : Compaq Proliant 5500
4x400MHz Xeon
128Mb RAM
Smart2-Raid
(don't know the storage, but it should be around 4 to 8GB)
For $695.00

I only put that low amount of information because that's all I know for now, but I want to know which one would you choose for web-hosting, medium to intense database driven operations and such. The Compaq would be my choice, but I fear the cost of buying all the stuff to make it work like I want it too.
