dealing with auto account creations, people say dont do this do to fraud.. but why in the hell would someone want to buy a hosting account when in 2 or 3 days youll know its fraud.. what would they do with a account in 2 or 3 days anyway?
seems wasteful time to a person to even try really...
can you name a time you were frauded and what the person was doing with the account?

Spammers and warez people. Anyone looking to break your AUP with no accountability.

I don't have auto-account creation. However, this is what I've heard mentioned that people do:

Sign up for an account and then...

* try legal trickery to stay on the server longer. Threaten to sue. Talk trash about your company.
* use those two or three days to send out lots of spam.
* store illegal files (copyrighted movies, songs, porn) and have them available off of your server for three days.

Having to deal with these possible nightmares made me firmly decide against automatic account creation.

Not to mention, it's just a hassle to have to go back and delete an account that was created. Much easier to have a system in place that will create accounts once you approve the client (either when payment is captured, or some other factor).

When I was in the market, I signed up with hosts who had automatic account creation, and with hosts who had a delay of anywhere between six and 24 hours. I never really minded the delays. The longest I ever had to wait was 11 hours.

However, in the end, it's your call. Use whatever option works best for you.

I have a site called hostprotect.com for this reason. I don't mean this to be an ad because I don't make anything from the site but I thought you might need it. I created it because I got so sick of fraud. It's a growing list of blacklisted domain owned by people who abuse hosting companies. You can take the domains listed and add them to the localdomains file and they will not be able to sign up.

Hope this helps.

Well, sometimes you do not know in 2 or 3 days if it is fraud if nobody does a chargeback doing that time.

I experience fraud cases in the sales of my shareware and sometimes the original card holder after getting the bill in the subsequent billing cycle request a chargeback. So that account could go on for a month or more before that happens.

Unless of course, the person checks their statement now and again. Not every bank in every country has online banking. And in Asia, I only get my card statement within 30 days of the transaction and here there is no real protection if someone use my card. I am still responsible for the current charge even if I can prove it is not mine, it is only subsequent charges would be cancelled. There is no chargeback protection here in Asia. I guess that could be why you get more fraud cases from Asia because people rather steal an Asian credit card than a US ones which has better protection.
