View Full Version : Private Google?

Hi. I am looking for some sort of indexing software that would give me the equivalent of a private Google to my own documents.

The situation is that the documentation for a system I am trying to learn is very poor and deals with complex and difficult material. The only good thing I can say about the documentation is that it is a collection of html pages. It's all confidential/proprietary, maintained inside an inner firewall so it's off limits to my employer's intranet crawler (which I don't think is very good anyway).

I'd like to be able to install the solution on the same server with the documentation and have the equivalent of continuous deep scanning a la Google, but with the scope restricted and access to the output controlled.

Thanks for your attention and for any leads you may have. Cheers!

Ht://Dig (http://www.htdig.org/) is an excellent open source site indexing and search system.

Granted its not as good as Google but it is pretty good and the best open source system I've come across.
