Which one is more better?
tera-byte.com shared colocation
or
4webspace.com dedicated cobalt 4 RaQ server?
I want to host some of my domains and offer some of my friends' free hosting service

First, you know they are the same company, right?
Second, I will choose to get my own dedicated server since it would be cheaper in the long run to add domains, etc.
Third, speaking about getting a Raq4, have you considered www.rackshack.net?

don't worry, they will get it more later, I believe... Last time I saw, they said they have only 3 left... Then when I checked with them again, they had 21 left... So, they should be getting more :)

but
I'm wondering about shared colocation service
I mean
I can build a comp with 256 RAM, 80 GIGS harddrive space, pIII 700
for a really cheap price
like for under $700
with 80 gigs I can practically host many websites!
right?
I'm so confused
How much bandwidth do the shared colo give?
I'm a newbie and I don't know how much bandwidth they give...

I doubt you can do this. You can surely do this if you use standar PC case and not rackmount case (about $150-200 different just in the case itself). The reason you may want to go with rackmount case since it's will be cheaper to colocate. Most NOC charges you rack space and the more rack you use, the mroe they will charge.

It would be better to have 2 x 40GB (7200rpm) HD than one single 80GB of HD. For sure you know even with 100 sites, it would be unlikely those sites witll even take 20GB. You can set the two drives as RAID0+1 or set one of the drive as a backup HD (note: this is not a real backup solution).

Some place will let you purchase bandwith as you go (www.dtwebworks.com, www.site5.com), some will require you to buy some bandwith in advance (say, 50GB for weinbar.com). The amount of bandwith you need really depends on the sites you host... Some sites don't even use 500MB of transfer/mo, while some other sites use a lot more... 10, 20, or even >30GB of data tarnsfer/mo. So again, it's hard to say how much bandwith you will need.
Note: if you are not really sure what to do with regards to maintaining a dedicated server then you should either find/pay somebody who will maintain it for you or be a reseller for a while. Otherwise, it would be a total chaos for you...

Tera-byte's shared colocation plan is unmetered in terms of bandwidth.
However, if you are inexperienced with administering a server, I would recomment a RaQ solution. dektong is right, you should start slow if you're inexperienced.
Don't rule out RackShack because they don't have many servers left. They regularly get in new shipments of servers so even if you don't make a decision right away you won't be out of luck.

dektong, thanks for your support
I have T1 connection (not at home)
and I can easily build comps
I never thought of rack charges
I'm only good in building tower comps
I guess that would cost a lot
