Do you think buying web designs, taking off the artist's name completely, then selling them for twice the price you bought them for... is wrong? My friend is doing this, he's buying from www.helendesign.com , then sticking the designs on his site saying that him and his employees all have very professional business and designing backgrounds (Which they don't, far from it), then selling for twice the price he bought them for... Without giving ANY credit to the author!

Sorry for the rant, just something I had to get off my chest... I know its called "reselling", but com'on, artistic work should not be resold without the artist getting credit :bawling: ... Its not like space or bandwidth...

Since he is in violation of HelenDesigns' License Agreement (http://www.helendesign.com/license_agreement.htm), why not just report him to them?

Hmm... Read through that but not sure if he breaks it EXACTLY... ... He doesn't exactly show the templates on his site, he makes the client e-mail them.. So I'm not sure if he's using the template more than once - http://www.sleekmedia.com

It doesn't appear that he is doing anything against the intended use of the product. Unless, of course, he is using a template more than once. The "artist" doesn't require recognition. So, I would just let it go.

If you have rights to sell on the design then fair play - otherwise just report it when you see it :)

If he is paying for the design, then the artist was compensated. If the artist agreed that he could use them as he wishes, including reselling them, then the agreement is still good.
Because he is paying for the designs, it could be said that the designer does work for him.
He probably shouldn't say that they are designs created by him,
or his designers, though. Unless the designers are under contract with him, they aren't his designers. they are simply designers that do some work for him.
If the designer is happy with what they are being paid, and the customer is happy with what they are paying, there is no harm done.
Although a nice design is like a piece of art, it isn't quite like a painting where the signed piece of work is actually worth more with the signature on it.
