Anyone interested in buying an apple emac (www.apple.com/emac) in perfect condition? It was purchased June, 2002. I decided to go back to normal x86 computers, because of gaming and linux. I'll be willing to sell it for around $800

You can do PC gaming and Linux on a Mac too. I'm curious as to why you would get it if you weren't going to use it.

Which model? I recommend you also listing it at Ars Agora Classifieds (http://arstechnica.infopop.net/OpenTopic/page?a=frm&s=50009562&f=57909216) and/or Mac NN Marketplace (http://forums.macnn.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=59) as well.

Yes, i know a lot of the new games are released for os x as well, but not all games (counter-strike, asheron's call 2)
And yes, i know there are plenty of linux PPC distros around, but using x86 is just easier because it is the standard arch.

It's the CD-RW model. Thanks for the links!

Actually I was referring to playing Win PC games on the Mac. I used to run VirtualPC on my Mac to run my Window's programs including some games. I got tired of running the extra overhead in RAM on my Mac and I figured an additional computer would be beneficial so I went ahead and built a PC. Games made only for Windows will usually run on both, but tend to run better on the native PC so even though I run Mac games on the Mac, if a game is only available on the PC, I'd rather run it on the PC also rather than through VirtualPC. As for Linux, when I was playing with Linux on my Mac, the versions available seemed to be more difficult to install than the PC versions for some reason.

I still use my Mac to check mail and do other 'risky' downloads because most of the PC virus' won't effect the Mac and yet if it's a legitimate program, the Mac usually runs it. Someone forwarded me a file a while back from their PC and was wondering if it was a virus so I downloaded it on my MAC, ran it from VirtualPC, but nothing came up. I told them It wouldn't run so I wasn't sure. They ran it on their PC anyway and it ended up being a virus that screwed up their PC to the point that I think they reformatted and reinstalled everything. So there's a benefit to each platform.

I'm sure you'll be able to sell it though, good luck!

Thanks DayGlo :)

I found Virtual PC extremely slow (with 384mb of ram).. i wouldn't want to play games on it.
