whois the domain and check what tag its landed on - then contact the tag owners.

you can get tag contact information from the nominet website.

Hi,

The tag stayed as FASTHOSTS which is what it should be... it just got removed from my account... I've emailed ukreg and they told me to have it transferred back to me... however it says that the domain needs to be 60days old before you can do this and as i only registered it about a week ago i can see problems occuring soon!

well FASTHOSTS tag holders have full control of the domain so should be able to fix the problem - the tag holder has full control via th email automation system which nominey operates.

Dont worry they can fix this issue.

The 60 day policy is only for com/net/org domains. As far as I know it does not apply to .uk domain name.

As seen as the domain is on ukreg's ips tag, they have total control of your domain name and they should restore the domain in question back to your account.

As far as I can see, it’s an administration error on there part.

changing IPS tag from easyspace costs $35, and changing the nameservers will cost $15 can you imagen that? heh

i have couple of domains with them which icannot switch them to my nameservers or move them to another .uk registrar unless i pay 2 time or 3 time of the domain it self cost!!!

any solution for this? can i contact Nominet to change the IPS tag for me for free?

That is what you get for not reading the full print. A lot of UK web hosts (and registrars such as UK2) charge release fees when you want to transfer away, the only reason they do this is to keep your money.

The contract between you and easyspace is seperate from the one with nominet and so easyspace can force you to pay the release fee.

My advice is to let your domain expire with easyspace, then easyspace will detag the domain name and so easyspace will no longer have any control of your name.

Then all you have to do is re-tag the name with another registrar that offers 100% control with no release fees. Unlike .com's, you do not risk loosing the name once it is detagged as nominet keeps detagging domains for around of six months before releasing them them into the public availabilty pool.

Yes, although its totally up to 123reg if they accept the domain name. Also, I believe there is a one-of charge of around £7 for 123reg to re-tag a domain name. I could be wrong on that though, you had better contact them and confirm that.
