I'm really confused about offering Windows 2000, SQL, and Exchange on our dedicated servers. Specifically, I'm confused about Microsoft licensing options, but then who isn't.

We have 2 dead-end options as far as I can tell. 1, the ASP Licensing program which required the you're a partner, which we're not. And 2, the Open Licensing program, which states that the licenses cannot be rented or resold.

This may be walking a tight-rope, but the approach could be different. We offer 2 levels of hosting, shared and dedicated. Shared is obvious, but dedicated could be stated as we allow clients to be on a low usage server. After all, we do own the hardware and would own the software as well. I don't know if this still violates the Open License agreement or not.

How do hosts get around this? Do we have any other options?

Whoever has figured out their licensing deserves a paid vacation BTW. ;)

Why don't you ask microsoft? I guess they would know best.
