I don't think you'll ever find a $5.99 price. I'm 99% sure that eNom pays $6.00 for .com/net/org type domains.

eNom does have a $5.99 "Name Only" plan; however, you WILL need to pay another $3.99 per remaining year anyway in the future in order to either activate or transfer it. So it's more like a down payment thing, making a total of $9+!

Yes ffeingol, you are right: every registrar (incl. eNom) has to pay $6 to the Verisign registry per name.
