illusionist 01-04-2003, 12:17 PM | well......i found a domain related to webhosting ....i was wondering if i should take it....cause its an expired domain....will that get me in trouble....the domain is general...no specific company name or anything? also im from india should i go for an india realted domain or a general one.....?? if i take a general one...there is a chance of getting customers from elsewhere to whereas india related domain....i dont think i will have customers from elsewhere? |
DotComster 01-04-2003, 12:54 PM Get it and Good luck with it :)
Many India related domains are held by none-Indians, they also expire to. |
illusionist 01-04-2003, 01:00 PM | so i should take an indian one or just a general one? |
Synthetic 01-04-2003, 02:25 PM Take a general one if you plan on targeting the global marketplace. |
nameslave 01-04-2003, 02:51 PM Take the general one EVEN when you are only targeting India FOR NOW. You'll never know: it's the World Wide Web! You might get an enquiry for two from people in other parts of the world which you may actually be able to entertain! Just my two cents. |
illusionist 01-04-2003, 03:10 PM hmm...now to think of a general webhosting site..domain name...any ideas anyone? |

illusionist 01-04-2003, 04:03 PM i got a good indian one......no general one:( |
hostjet 01-04-2003, 06:01 PM definitely go for a general one which would appeal to the world market. |
illusionist 01-04-2003, 06:11 PM but what about the immense competition......in the world market.....where as regionaly...i would have less? what say u? and also...cant anybody suggest a webhosting name..... |

Ultimately, it is your decision. I was just giving you my personal opinion. |
illusionist 01-05-2003, 03:28 AM hmm...ur right....this is gonna be a tough one.... |
RajanUrs 01-05-2003, 10:25 AM get a good name and a register for .COM
and if someone gets the .CO.IN and squats on it [doesnt use it to host a website after a reasonable time] then you can win it back if you have are already hosting the website. [.Co.In cant be registered by any individual unless he is registered as a business or a professional so the chances that someone will squat on it is nil....and if someone really uses it for a genuine reason you can ask him for mutual link to the others website to avoid confusion]
If you are loaded grab both and stop asking stupid qustions :D |
illusionist 01-05-2003, 11:50 AM If i get two domains wouldnt i have to build to diff webshoing sites?? and i dont think i can handle to such sites at one time:rolleyes: |

DotComster 01-05-2003, 03:21 PM Best have two in seperate languages - but if you are too busy to design both, you can "Point" one domain to the other till you have more time for the other. |

You build one global website and then point the second local domain to your global site. |
