Not something I would advise. Using Windows means you will be open to all kinds of Network attacks -- starting about 24 hrs after your home network is connected -- and without the experience to block attackers, you would leave your system wide open.

If you intend to be connected to the internet, you might want to check with your ISP if it is permitted.

Technically speaking, if you have Win2K Server installed, you already have IIS installed which can be use as your web server.

You will also need a static IP, once again, check with your ISP. And get a firewall!

www.foxserv.net <-- one easy to install .exe file will get apache, php and MySQL all setup on your windows box.

Linux is simple because apache was designed for it - why would you need an installer package when it works out of the box ?

There's some software called easyphp (can't recall where to download it though) that you can use. It will install php, mysql, apache and so forth. It's easy to use and it's free. My friend used it to setup up his own server. Pretty reliable. But I think he also uses Serv-U of something alike as a primary server. Sounds like a hassle to me though.
