View Full Version : Please, help me decide

I'm planning a "car" website.

I can't decide what host to take. At this moment I got 3 options:

1) Hostrocket: I got 3 (smaller) sites with them and I'm happy. I trust/like them because of their service and also they do not hide anything, they got a community forum online. Do not like their 15 gig offer.

2) FutureQuest: hear some good things about them but I got no experience with them. Maybe too expensive.

3) Site5: love their 27 gig offer but do not know if I can trust them.

My first concern is ability to grow and not to pay to much on the way. Also reliability of course!

Any ideas?

If you pay for a expensive host then you would get the support you paid for. Hosts that have knowledgeable staff costs more because it cost money to have such staff. All three hosting companies that you chose have great rep. If you need alot of bandwidth (as in 20+ gigs), go with SITE5.

I have some sites on futurequest for about a year and have must say that I have had pleasant experiences with them so far. (They even do things like making sure that others who telnet to their account cannot read your files or databases - things that all hosts should do but a number seem to fail to do.) Unfortunately, as you said, they are a tad expensive. And they have no dedicated servers - so if your site outgrows a shared account, you have to look elsewhere (not too big a deal, I guess).

Did some counting. For accounts with 50 gig total bandwidth, I would pay:

Hostrocket: $195
Site5: $162
futurequest: $359
VentureOnline: $159

Although I can't speak from experience, I've heard a lot of good things about site5.com.
