Would you believe it my old host registered madhosts.co.uk
I asked if they would sell, and they said yes but somone had already put a bid in for £300 and i would need to raise that bid.
What can i do if anthing?

If you'll have a branch in England so you should place a higher bid, if not partner with them or let go :)

If they didnt buy it for any commercial purpose, and it sounds like they didnt, then you could file a complaint to ICANN.

We've had problems with fasthosts.co.uk before so good luck!

You wont get anywhere by filing a complaint, they havent doen anything wrong, if you really want it youll have to give them the money.

A couple of things.

Fasthosts havent registered that domain for themselves, they are merely the tag holders (or admin contact) for it.

Secondly, ICANN have no authority over .co.uk domains, you would need to speak to Nominet (at www.nic.uk) regarding it.

They have done something wrong if their reason for registering the domain was to make him pay.

It breaks ICANN's uniform domain name dispute resolution policy.

Damn forgot about the .co.uk side of it :(

So it might still be honored by www.nic.uk

it seems that one of the people from fasthosts is in control of selling it. They didnt ask me for money unitl i contacted them so i dont thin they are breaking the rules, ill need to pay if i want it other wise its being sold on to someone whos going to use it for hosting

We've faced similar problems in the past. My view is if you own the .com extension I wouldnt bother with any other lower level extensions.

Yeah, it shouldn't be reall problem if you have the .com and/ .net extension, because to be honest .co.yk is just a cheap and cheesy extension, don't lose any sleep over .co.uk, you have the better domain and extension.
