View Full Version : Any new hosting company here?
esystal 01-03-2003, 12:23 AM Good evening all!
I am just wondering if there is anyone here like me who has just started a new hosting company a few days ago?
Thanks!
Aushosts 01-03-2003, 12:54 AM I started my hosting business in about November 2002.
Best of luck with your business.
Stick in there web hosting is profitable :D
Akash 01-03-2003, 01:02 AM There are quite a few, though most probably won't admit to it ;)
Good luck with your company (Spirit you too ;))
Reality Hosting 01-03-2003, 01:38 AM We started up in June. I consider that new :)
Fujiwara Takumi 01-03-2003, 03:05 AM my 3 year anniversary comes in march of 99, but i still consider myself very very new...our focus has just started to change, and i have always kept at least one other full time job.
esystal 01-03-2003, 12:08 PM Thank you for all the replies.
Yesterday I was chatting with a very nice member in WHT, who happens to be in Canada as well, about our new company.
Have any of you gained any customers or started any advertising campaigns yet? How are you planning to approach the market?
AtlantaWebhost.com 01-03-2003, 02:03 PM I started in July 1999, so I guess that means I am not new ;-) However, it can be a rewarding industry if you can define a market and work at it. Atlanta Web Host is a small company, but we are turning a modest operating profit and will remain in business. I am a software developer and "computer scientist" so I really enjoy having access to servers and bandwidth, which customers pay me to admin.
Best of luck with your endeavors. Build a product that is worth something and work to serve your clients. Remember that you are not your own boss, but the customer's servant. Avoid price-wars and enjoy learning new things daily!
Best regards,
Frank Rietta

^^ its worth the effort - just find your neiche.
Out of ALL the people in your road - how many have a website. BUT how many own their own business or are part of a club?
Target these guys to start with, get a solid, friendly client base and the only way will be up :D
dbbrock1 01-05-2003, 03:55 PM I started in August. However I didn't start getting customers until 2 or 3 months later. Now things are starting to pick up and I'm finally turning a profit.
Best of luck,
-Dan
Esr Tek 01-05-2003, 08:55 PM I'm in fact just opening for biz this week..
I have been up and running it giving friends accounts and getting everything lined up for smooth transition to "true" customers.
I however have researched and studied this market for about a year now and have been "testing" w free clients for 3 months of that.
This has helped me greatly in my confidence of a successful biz.
freakysid 01-05-2003, 10:13 PM I started hosting on the 16th August 2002 - so I consider myself new. Sales are below my business plan forcast right now - but I'm not too concerned. I'm about to start hosting/sponsoring an open source project that will boost my google page rank if nothing else. However, I am not going to target online people who find me online anymore. I am going to concentrate on the local market. Firstly, I am hosting/sponsoring a directory for a national government program we have down here called the "New Enterprise Incentive Scheme". Part of the arrangement is that I will be given access to the mailing list and I will be speaking at various courses too.
The emphasis of my business plan in 2003 is marketing locally, face-to-face networking, and teaming up with local designers to offer complete solutions to the SOHO/SME market. First phase is marketing myself to local designers. Second phase is teaming up with some. Hopefully in a few months I will be running seminars for that target market where I present the audience with a introduction to ecommerce/getting on the web and market some packages to them.

That's almost exactly the path I took before the end of 2001 when I started up my own hosting business. It was well worth the time to learn about the industry. 2003 will see me launch a new part of my business though, so in a way I'll be 'new' again soon. Bigger and better than ever :)
