View Full Version : Simplest way to handle email

I'm developing a web hosting package that will automatically build my clients' websites based off templates. It will also automatically purchase a domain for them.

Since I'm hosting their domain, I feel like I will also need to offer them some sort of email service that can make use of their domain name.

What are my options for offering the simplest form of email? Just email forwarding? POP? Or can I farm email handling out to someone else even though I'm hosting the domain?

I'm open to any ideas and directions at this point.

Thanks

I guess I should note that I'm doing this with Windows 2000 (or NT) server.

Well I tried everyone.net to see what they were like.

They were quite good for a while (few months) but recently they have added loads more adverts including Java banners side strip of adverts and loads of popup windows that have ruined it. As soon as I sort somthing else out I will leave them.

I emailed them to ask why they added lots more adverts etc. their reply was that they needed to as each advert was worth less $$. I could pay to have them removed they said. I emailed to ask how much it would cost (just for interest I had no intention of paying them anything) and after about a month no reply.

Sorry not to be of more use but just something to watch out for.

If you think that email forwarding is enough, you can use ENOM.com for your domain registration. Thay have email forwarding included in their service. Also, you can handle domain registration and management using their software (activex and asp). Their reseller price is $8-$9 / domain / year. As their service is not the best you can take a look at similar services... Just some thoughts...
