View Full Version : GoDaddy messed up my domain transfer
Yikes2000 01-02-2003, 08:21 PM | I'm annoyed.
On 12/19/2002, I initiated a domain transfer (cpg.us) from DirectNic to GoDaddy. The WHOIS record shows the transfer was completed on 12/24/2002, but its status is INACTIVE. I contacted GoDaddy on 12/30/2002. They replied within 8 hours to say they will escalate the problem for investigation. In the mean time, my domain is still broken.
Oh, great! A simple domain transfer with the same DNS info (I run my own DNS), it should be seemless and painless. But now my domain doesn't work for probably over a week. How can this happen? (I asked GoDaddy the same question, their reply is "please be patient".)

| done. cpg.us now active.
Thanks for your patience Andy. |
Yikes2000 01-03-2003, 04:19 PM What exactly happened!? What went wrong? I first contacted GoDaddy Customer Support on 12/30/2002 about this problem. What good is 24x7 support if it takes 4 days to correct a major error like this? |
Yikes2000 01-03-2003, 04:34 PM Let me add this. Nobody from GoDaddy notiftied me today that "cpg.us" has been activated and placed into my account. When I went to check (before coming here), "cpg.us" DNS was pointed to nowhere. I had to manually change it to my DNS hosts, which I specified in two of my trouble tickets.
Is GoDaddy understaffed during the holidays? |
dreamrae.com 01-04-2003, 04:49 PM dont use godaddy, they stole my domain name and wouldnt let me change the nameservers. |
Yikes2000 01-04-2003, 09:24 PM Who should I use instead? I like GoDaddy because my domains (less than 10) are organized in a single list. Is there a registrar who does that plus fix problems within 24 hours? |
