I read the recommendations on this forum and signed up with Reliablesite. Their support is atrocious - half the tickets just disappear into a black hole.

I bought a starter account with them - played around with it for 2 days and setup one of my customer's site - decided it was good enough so asked them to upgrade me to a shared 3 year plan. They said they can do it and to wait for me to get invoiced. I put all my work on hold while waiting for them to upgrade me. 3 days go by - no update on ticket and no upgrade either.

Finally, I decided that I would just buy a fresh 3 year plan and ask for cancellation/refund of the first plan. So I buy a fresh plan, setup the first site all over again. Delete all my files from the first plan and ask for cancellation. Meanwhile, I spent the whole day and setup few more websites on the new plan, changed the NS, moved the databases and got all the sites up and running.

Later that night, I logged in to check if my refund got processed and saw that it had. Then I noticed, they cancelled both my plans - even though I have to EXPLICITLY ask for a cancellation for a plan - they just went ahead and deleted all my sites, etc. All my customer's sites were showing as dead links.

Raising a ticket with them is useless - they don't even respond. And then they said they have cancelled my account because it failed "fraud checks" - no explanation, no nothing, no notice, didn't even get my files/database back.

I learnt the hard way that reliablesite is completely unreliable.

Ticket history is given below:

Subject: Plan upgrade?
Hello,

The total cost would be $216, promotion codes can only be used on your initial order and cannot be added on for future purchases or upgrades. Would you like your hosting plan to be upgraded?

Thank you,

Subject: Plan upgrade?
Hi,
Thank you for the response. I have two questions:
1. As per your email - do I understand correctly that cost would be $216 - $40 I already paid - hence I would need to pay $176 more? Or is it that the cost would be additional $216?
2. Since I just ordered the promo plan 2 days ago (still in my refund period) - and didn't use any promo code for that - couldn't you just treat this as my first order - i.e. I would pay $194.40 - 40 = 154.40 - if you could that would be great... I ordered the initial plan mainly to try out since I was not sure whether your services would be suitable for my needs - I hadn't noticed the refund guarantee - otherwise I would have directly ordered this plan in the first place.

Sorry to be a bother - but just let me know what is feasible and I will proceed accordingly.

Thanks much!
Anand

Hello,

Yes, we can do this for you. Would you like to be invoiced and upgraded now?

Thank you,
ReliableSite.Net Support

Just to confirm:
I would need to pay $194.40 - 40 = 154.40 to get my plan upgraded.
If yes, please go ahead and invoice me and upgrade it - please let me know how/where I can make the additional payment.

Thank you for your assistance!

Subject: sql 2005 databases
Hello
I have purchased a 3 year plan that gives me 20 SQL 2005 databases. I have added one database. But my control panel shows my quota only as 1 database and not 20 - I need to add a second database but I am not able to do it.

Please assist ASAP.

Anand

Subject: URGENT: Wrong cancellation ()
Hello,
There was no mistake, the new account failed our fraud checks and was
canceled and fully refunded.

Hello

I have two services purchased - I requested for cancellation of one service
(2008 promo $40)- now the billing portal is showing the second service also
as cancelled (3 years shared - $194.40)?

What is the reason? I have spent the whole day setting that account up.

Please advice urgently

This account was terminated for fraud as reported by our payment processor. This was explained to this customer over the ticket he opened, he just apparently forgot to include it here.

That's just bogus. I spent half-my-night yesterday reversing the stuff that I had already setup. I spend $1500 a month on that card for hosting services alone - and there is absolutely no chance of it being reported for a risk transaction.

I did spend some time thinking about it and looking at their site - and then realized the true reason for this cancellation.

When I chose a 3-year plan - their site allowed me to configure a plan which permitted me to make selections for additional databases, emails, etc. upto a certain level without additional charges. I can now see that that page has been reprogrammed to have a charge for each upgrade. For example, earlier it allowed me to go from 1 - 20 databases at no charge - now the page asks for an additional charge for 2nd database onwards. It is quite obvious that they either had a discount that they forgot to remove - or there was a mistake in their configuration/ordering page.

They just didn't have the guts to tell me that and own up for their mistake. In the 14 years I have been in business - if we send out a wrong quote by mistake and customer accepts it - as far as possible we swallow the loss because we sent out a wrong quote. Where we can't, we inform the customer about the mistake and request him to understand and allow us to make a correction. Most of the time, the customer would understand and agree for changes.

If they had told me of their screw-up, I might have understood too and agreed to pay a little more for what I needed - I was transparent with them all the way of what I had ordered.

Instead they choose to hide behind a generic "payment processor risk" and cancel my account without notice and act high-and-mighty for a small shared hosting order. They say yes we can upgrade and invoice you and then leave me hanging and keep that ticket open forever.

As I told them on their ticketing system - very highly unprofessional company. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Strange, if what you say is true - I think the easier process and one that does not give the business a negative reputation is to just suck it up and take the small loss.

Thanks, yes, I am already looking for a different provider. Fortunately, I didn't remove everything from my existing server nor cancelled my existing account - so I was able to at least get them back up in a couple of hours.

Did you use same credit card to order the two hosting packages?
Account should not be activated in the first place if did not pass fraud check.

Strange, if what you say is true - I think the easier process and one that does not give the business a negative reputation is to just suck it up and take the small loss.

So that is the simple solution here? I don't think so. These forums are to find the truth in situations like this and for other users to be aware of these situations and make their own judgments. If everyone just ignored wrong doings then what would be the point of these forums?

It seems to me you think this is not a big deal, while it actually is for a customer. I wonder if this is the attitude you take with your service. If what the OP says is true the others have the right to know about this and be aware if they decide to go with this company.

Theses forums are not just for positive reviews. They are for both good and bad based on customer experiences. Most times the truth comes out by the end of the thread thus making the post justified favoring either the OP or the host.
