On Linux hosting, I'm used to having a cluster of web servers utilizing shared disk (NFS), with a load-balancer in front of them deciding the best server to send traffic to.
What is the best approach for a shared file system to use for something like this? Is CIFS appropriate for this kind of traffic?
Is WLBS a good clustering choice? Does Windows play nice with Big-IP? I'm not worried about keeping session-state persistent between web servers in the pool of physical servers, since I can use persistence to ensure that users get directed to the same server for a block of time. This would only be an issue if a physical server in the pool went offline.
I'd like to get this done right the first time I do it ... :)
