Hello,
I am willing to pay someone $25 through paypal to setup nameservers for me! I am sick of the tutorials, since I cant figure them out :) Email me at justin@bubblehost.com if you want to do it for me.
Thanks

i have successfully setup my own nameservers on my raq 3 server last week ... its very simple :
1. add new 2 sites with the host and domian name ns1.domian.com (unique ip address) and ns2.domain.com (another unique ip address)
2. create A records(at dns control panel) for both ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com using the unique ip addresses acordingly.
3. create PTR records for both ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com using the unque ip addresses accordingly.
thats all!!!
but remember to setup the nameservers with your registra first in order for the nameserver to be usable.
hope that helps :)
Just asking: can you add more nameservers with a different domain on top of the original primary and secondary on the RAQ3? e.g. ns1.domain2.com, ns2.domain2.com. Would this resolve correctly to the same machine?
i am not 100% sure, but since you are using unique ip addresses for all the nameservers, i think it should be ok.
Ive had about 20 name servers on one RAQ 4 and they work just fine. I have even had them direct to more than one site and its just like pointing one IP to another. You can also have it set up so that the box is almost divided into a bunch of little servers this way by setting up the IPs so they do not interact and then having the name servers run to that personal area. Its not that hard, but you have to know how to do is so you dont screw things up.
***forgot to warn you****
If you do have more than one name server and divide the box like I was telling you above, it will void your support and warranty with Cobalt.
Basically, if you do anything they dont like, they will kick you off of the warranty and you'll be on your own

Anyway, I dont really think you need to pay someone to set up the name servers. If anything, you can pay your NOC or Hosting Company to do this for you. They may charge alittle extra, ask them.
