HNY Everyone,

Here's a general newbie question:

I understand that when a visitor comes to my site a certain amout of bandwidth is used (depending on how big a page it is): for instance for a 50ko page 1 unique visitor would use 50ko bandwidth right? But if the visitor decides to download the very same page he's viewing, so it would mean that he would use 50ko (for the viewing of the page + 50ko (for downlaoding the page) = 100ko of bandwidth for 1 unique visitor. So if I understand it right it's teh wau it works right?

Well, typically when someone first view the page, it would be stored in the browser cache. So if he downloads the page, it will still count as 1 page view.

Of course, if he clears his cache and does a refresh or reload, it might load a second time. Well, at least that is how it works in theory.

Well, I do not have answers to everything. Just trying to help where I can help but for anything really too technical, I would stay out of it.

Incidentally, if the person's ISP has a proxy, they might cache your page when the first person visit your site and when the next person from that same network tries to browse the same page, it will be taken off the cache first without connecting to your site.

Ask away, I am sure there would be more than enough willing people who would help you.

Take care.

This is mostly true. Something to add on to this is that browser cache is often cleared. It depends on the personal settings on someone's computer, some people have cache cleared on an hourly basis, others, it's cleared when their computer is restarted.
