View Full Version : small website but needs SQL Server
ieee488 12-06-2010, 09:23 PM I am currently with SoftSysHosting; paid through to end of January.
Looking to move.
This website is mainly for me to learn about ASP.NET.
I don't need much, but I want SQL Server.
Looking for something in similar price range of $15/quarterly.
Any suggestions?
Splashbros 12-07-2010, 01:10 AM Are you looking for a SQL Database interigrated into cpanel? Ranges from $0-20.00 USD depending on diskspace.

I am not sure what you mean by integrated into cPanel.
SyssoftHosting doesn't use cPanel. They use WebsitePanel.
I believe right now that I get 500MB of disc space which is enough for me to "play" with.
kpmedia 12-07-2010, 06:32 PM $15/quarter is inadequate budget, to be honest.
Make that $15/monthly, and you can end up with some great hosts, like EuroVPS or Coolwin.

Inadequate for a "play" website? How so?
I am certainly not running a business website on this.

WinHost fits your price range perfectly actually since it is $5/month and comes with SQL. Give it a look if you want.
I think they started offering a 30 day money back guarantee too so you can't go wrong with that
I do think happy-hosting will be good for the OP.
They are cheap and resourceful. They support ASP.NET on their servers and not only.
ieee488 12-10-2010, 07:49 PM Thank you for the suggestions.
I will look into asphostcentral, winhost, and happy-hosting.
ieee488 12-14-2010, 03:00 PM I wanted to post an update on this.
I ended up going with Arvixe on their $8 monthly plan.
So far, compared to SoftSysHosting, the control panel response is faster.
HostASP 12-15-2010, 02:37 AM If you intend to use for learning purpose why don't you use the free hosting services some host offer this but not on your domain name but on sub domains of the Hosting services provider.
Mo-chi 12-18-2010, 05:13 AM You can buy Window shared hosting plans
It only cost approx. $5.5 / month for the small one
Btw...Buying your own Dedicated server is much much better
You can install any operating system do you like, you can sell hosting too.
mahesh2010 12-18-2010, 05:30 AM Hello,

ieee488 12-18-2010, 10:38 AM Hello,
Why cant you try out with My sql
I do also have a MySQL database.
But I want Microsoft SQL Server as well.
ieee488 12-31-2010, 04:19 PM An update:
Decided not to continue with Arvixe beyond my one month with. They use SQL Server Express, not SQL Server Web Edition.
PremiumHost 12-31-2010, 08:53 PM They use SQL Server Express, not SQL Server Web Edition.
Really?? Arvixe have been in business for long time. I can't believe they offer SQL express with shared hosting service.

That somehow amazed me as well as with Arxive using Express edition instead of web edition.

It's right there in the KB. Too bad, I didn't check that before I signed up and wasted my time setting up my site.

It is also documented in the connection string they say to use.

HostASP 01-31-2011, 06:28 AM you can check wht offers section and also refer microsoft site http://www.microsoft.com/web/hosting/home
All windows hosting must have or support ms sql db
I think most of the hosting service providers give you sql database along with the hosting package
BloggersOnline 03-03-2011, 12:27 PM Arvixe have MSSQL WEB license which is an extra $30.00 per month I think.
