Hi Everybody! This is my first post and I got a question. Can someone please suggest a good reliable hosting company that will take an Adult Joke Site?

I know a lot of mainstream hosting companies that will not take anything adult. This is my first attempt in getting into the 'mature' audience.

All help and responses will be greatly appreciated! :)

I think most of the hosting companies will be OK with it, as long as they are not hardcore stuffs.

I think the hosting companies here will clarify this.

:) Welcome.

Can you give an idea of your monthly hosting budget as well as any special needs that you may have for your hosting. Do you require Linux or NT/Frontpage hosting, particular shopping cart, telnet, scripts, SLA, etc. Just provide a laundry list of what you are looking for in a host that accepts adult-oriented sites, and the recommendations should start pouring in. Oh, and let us know when the site's up--we can all use a good dirty joke now and again. :D

Hosting a joke site shouldn't be a problem for most hosts. Just take a look around this board and you'll find some good options.

I know that you can't have any adult content on alabanza servers. I used to have machines there. Most VDI hosts would host a site like that.

Alabanza doesn't have a problem with adult jokes, only links and other content.

I am sure that if you contact any of the hosts, they would be more than happy to accomodate you.

WeinBar,
I had a few machines at alabanza... there is a lot you may not know about them, but lets just say they run spider software that looks for content including adult words.

That is how they find adult sites in their facility... looking for the words. I really dont think you could have an adult joke site with no adult content in the wording...

The host may not have a problem with it.. but alabanza would kill the site, and tell the host about it the next week if he asked what happned to his customers site.

been there... done that. I know what I am saying on this matter. It is not the host... it is alabanza that would kill the site first, and not tell the host until he asked about it.

I am not sure about alabanza, but most of the host will not have any problem to host a site with adult jokes (text) only. Also adult cartoons may be tolarable by many of hosts.

Still it would be advisable to choose a host as per your requirement and ask them before you sign up.

Side note: Don't forget to inform us when the site is up, so we can joke around too. :D

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Do you think it would be safer to just host it with an adult hosting company? Would it be more expensive just because it's an adult host?

I have no site yet (this is why I need a host). Once it's up I'd be more than happy to share it with you people! :D

If you don't have hardcore stuff, stay with the hosts here. Usually adult hosts charge a lot more.

ebird: I want to be sure that their terms allow this so that they won't yank my site just because I got too popular for their corporate image.

How much space and bandwidth do you need?

I have an adult site. As in a blatantly adult anime site review and fanfiction center (no porn pics, though, 'cause I find some of them offensive).

Although I'm reselling for Alabanza I know that they wouldn't allow it. So I found a good host for it at

http://www.secured-net.net

Great customer service they have there, and they also don't put separate TOS for adult sites. They treat adult sites the same way they treat their other clients.

Hope this helps. :D

BTW, my adult site gets 11,000+ pageviews and 2000+ unique hits a day (it's still fairly new, about 3 weeks old). Is that too small for you or would this be enough for your bandwidth usage?

skysenshi: Hmm.. Their prices seems reasonable. Do you know how much they charge for additional GBs?

With 2000 uniques per day, what plan are you on? I don't expect much traffic when I first start but I do want to grow properly without footing a huge bill for bandwidth.

BTW, that unlimited bandwidth thing... Is it really unlimited until I hog too much system resources? I won't be running scripts so I would want to take advantage of their 'unlimited' bandwidth offer if that is how it works that is.

Uh oh, someone said the "u" word.

There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth, and there doesn't appear to be anywhere on their site where the 'fine print' appears. I'd be real cautious as they don't explain their overage charges for excess space usage, or state what their bandwidth limitation is, and they have to have a limit in place.

Your site will probably be low in space, bandwidth and server resource usage, but be very careful of a host that tells you nothing except the price and throws the word unlimited around.

Caveat emptor.

Best to stay clear of any "unlimited bandwidth" hosting plans. Since your content is really borderline adult you should search around here for hosting prospects and then ask the host directly if they have a problem with risque humor.

Post your URL when you launch!
