Hey guys, I am in the market for a new dedicated server. I currently have the $99 server at ***** (yeah, I know...more on them at the bottom), bumped up to 128mb of Ram, and we need to move to a different host/dedicated server.

We currently use roughly 18GB a month of transfer, projected to hit 25GB by the end of the year. It needs to be linux, with mysql, and we NEED TO BE ABLE TO CONNECT to the mysql database using the odbc drivers. ***** refuses to open the necessary port for us to connect to it.

If at all possible, we would like the option to purchase the server outright after a year or so. Our current server is a Celeron 600mhz, which actually is serving us quite well.

What can you offer?


Now, my rant about *****. We originally had a shared account with them back in 99, and were caught up in the big downtime fiasco in December of that year. we immediately moved to Communitech. Our traffic kept growing and growing, so we had to move to a dedicated server, and at the time, ***** had the cheapest servers. Believe it or not, we have had VERY little downtime with ***** and our dedicated server. Their tech support is staffed with idiots, however, as well as their billing department, accounting, and sales. The only reason we ndeed to move (again) is because we need external access to the mysql database.
