I just signed up for a dedicated server at Alabanza (I've heard a lot good about them!) and they require that telnet access be by SSH telnet. They recommend Secure CRT, but I feel like I'm already spending plenty for now :-) Could someone recommend any free SSH telnet client?
Thanks!

You might want to try http://www.net.lut.ac.uk/psst/ (in fact, Alabanza gives this link to new customers if they're looking for a free client). SecureCRT (another one they recommend) is quite a good product, IMO, and worth the hundred bucks. There's also OpenSSH at http://www.openssh.com/ (originally developed for BSD), which is free, and SSH secure shell at http://commerce.ssh.com/, which is not.

For Win9x/NT
PuTTY looks pretty good for what it is (free!). The lack of support for it may push some people away, but it's small and fast.
There's another freebie for Win clients called TTSSH (http://www.zip.com.au/~roca/ttssh.html), which requires the use of TeraTerm (another freebie).
For the Mac, there's http://www.lysator.liu.se/~jonasw/freeware.html NiftyTelnet, but that site is not responding at the time I'm writing this.
And I must agree with Mike - SecureCRT is one of the best clients I've come across, and well worth the price. They do have a 30 day trial if you want to look at it (http://www.vandyke.com/products/securecrt/index.html).

Thanks, Annette. I neglected to mention I need a WIN98 client. The psst link led me to PuTTy, any info as to whether that is good (for a freebie, that is)?

Speaking of Telnets, I am looking for one for the Mac that has SSH. http://www.net.lut.ac.uk/psst/ is no longer available.
Thanks

I am also looking for an SSH client for Windows 95/98 for the same reason.
I have a free version of a shell client from ssh.com but it is SSH2 and Alabanza requires SSH1 apparently.
This is the one fault I have with Alabanza, if there were a free SSH1 client for windows available there wouldn't be a problem, but I can't seem to find one :(
Secure CRT is the way to go. It's worth the small investment.
